Wow! I lost track of this website several years ago. It went down some memory hole in my consciousness. I forgot the name 'Bending Corners'. Couldn't for the life of me pull that name up but I assumed the website was out there somewhere. Then, a couple days ago, the name 'Bending Corners' popped into my head from out of nowhere!

Well, I've got you bookmarked now and plan on stopping by and digging your scene.

Well Martin,
the music may be "free" to you, but its certainly not free for BendingCorners.

We buy ALL our music (usually from DustyGroove or Amoeba) and pay the bandwidth bills ($100/month) to host this site.

BendingCorners is fortunate enough to have a decent paying day job and thus we don't need to display ads or ask for donations, but the Artists we showcase in our podcasts can use all the funds they can get.
So please, BUY THEIR MUSIC and/or ATTEND THEIR LIVE SHOWS.

Still trying to find something to equal Desert Moments. I love music, lots of different kinds, but your 2005 Desert Moments is an all-time favourite for background that isn't background. It never gets carried away, so we can work while its on. But it's not sleepy, it's not sad, it doesn't bring you down. And no voices to catch your attention--I don't want my attention snagged; I just want to hear the sound. I've played Desert Moments over 3 times in a row, maybe more (that's 3+ hours)and I never get tired of it. Any chance for mo' Desert Mo's? Thanks extremely.

Hi guys
Thanks as always for a great new set - Modern Architecture. But how frustrating - you don't identify the track between Directions/Echoes and what is actually the Five Corner Quintet (rather than Paolo Fedreghini). Any ideas - I love the stripped down contemporary twist on the Don Cherry/Codona style pocket trumpet/bass mix...
Please identify if you can - or put me on the right track. And the Directions track is cool too - no links to sites on this playlist tho'.
I love Bending Corners - been downloading since the start and I then go and BUY!

Jeff:
can you elaborate on your comment that you are "getting tired of the same old same old."?
What do you mean by that?

We have been trying hard to produce monthy jazz-n-groove sets with a wide variety of themes incorporating a number of different genres.

Do you feel the themes are not varied enough? Is the overarching concept of jazz-n-groove too limiting for you? Are the selections not "bent" enough?
What?

We do appreciate that you are a regular listener and very much appreciate your candid comments, but if you want us "to get back into the game", you'll need to tell us what the game is.

Hi ya!

I just heard about this website and I absolutely LOVE IT! What a wonderfully funky, somewhat obscure selection of music from many musical genres I enjoy in the field of jazz, funk, soul, electronica & hip-hop. Some truly ingenius blends. Keep it coming I say!

As for a recommendation for a future theme, what about jazz songs featuring unusual instruments, such as:
-BUDDY EMMONS: (from the album "Steel Guitar Jazz") featuring of course steel guitar.
-YUSEF LATEEF: one of his many songs that feature oboe.
-BELA FLECK: one of his more jazzy excursions that exploit his banjo.
-HERBIE HANCOCK: "Steppin' In It" from the Man-Child CD featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica.
-CHARLIE HUNTER: "My Son the Hurricane" that features John Ellis on bass clarinet.
And I know there are others I've heard that feature tuba, french horn, alto flute, and a whole whack of unusual percussion instruments.

Anyway, just thought it could be a rather exotic sounding mix. Regardless, I'm a fan for as long as you're kicking the groove. Thanks!

We're convinced that SingerWanted is a totally original, one-of-a-kind project that will benefit not only us, as a group, but also anyone else who is involved in promoting the SingerWanted brand, which is sure to attract a lot of attention and interest. You can find a whole load of information on the project at www.singerwanted.net. We would really appreciate any help you could give us, and would be most grateful if you could mention us in one of your pieces or, better still, devote a little weekly or monthly piece to the project in which you give updates on what's new and list the new candidates. These are just a couple of ideas, and we're sure you could come up with many others, given your expertise in the field. Any support at all from you would be a fantastic bonus. I really enjoy the podcast, but I'd love it if the 128 kbps version were available by subscription... the 64 kpbs feed just doesn't do the music justice!

Hey, I liked the word set. But I just managed to listen to it. I find myself hanging on to your casts. It's nice to be turned on to some new/old music.

Love the podcast, great mixes, great playlists.

I am missing an alternative podcast feed that loads the 128kbps files instead of the 64kbps, though...

Want to hear a specific artist, song, or genre?

well, dunno about that, but i´m sure you need to hear this record: Ricci Rucker- Fuga

available: http://www.alphapuprecords.com/ on CD

heard promises of "the last" vinyl run:
http://www.asisphonics.net/releases.html

seriously, you need to hear this record.
